He has gone well round Cheltenham a couple of times mate but its the trip that is the stumbling block with me. I look at him and think of Silviniaco Conti or One Man or, going back much further, Wayward Lad. They all went well until racing up that final hill and it was just too much for them and they were running on fumes in the end. And this fella reminds me of them.
Then again, i could be completely wrong and he may sluice in. But i wouldnt back him. That said, i wont be having a bet in the race.

As i said earlier, i just cant get into ante post betting these days. It just seems like a lot of wasted time and effort to me now and i'd much rather wait until the day itself.
But good luck with the other three.

A sickener about Newcastle being abandoned. I was really looking forward to the Eider and Mrs Crossett had got stuck into one.
    Not to worry.

Cant linger, the granddaughter is staying and i'm a slave from yesterday afternoon until tomorrow afternoon.

    Have a good weekend all.

Peace has descended on the Crossett household, little madam has now left the building and i think i have found somebody who eats more cake than me ! The Lemon Drizzle cake took a hammering and the Dime Bar cheesecake is all gone.
I think it may be a while before she stays again

No jumps today but hopsfully Catterick will get the go ahead for tomorrow. I've just come off the phone to the track and they say that they havent called an inspection yet but they are going to look again later this morning before deciding on having one. That said, they said they are hopeful so i will get stuck into the fields when the decs are out later.

So its only all weather and bearing in mind that it has been profitable so far, i've had another look. Drums Of War did the business nicely last Tuesday and Hidden Pearl was unlucky not to get third at 25's on Thursday.
Today i've had a look at the Southwell 4.10 race and i think Life Knowledge will give anybody who gets involved a run for their money. Its currently 14/1 in a few places and i reckon they've underestimated his chances. The horse is no world beater but then again its a class 6 so none of them are. But he is a trier and has finished in the first four on more than half of his 49 starts. His recent flat form figures may not look that appealing but he has finished third on his last two hurdle starts recently and will lack nothing for fitness. He has won twice on the all weather and gets in here off his lowest ever flat rating. The trainer will have lines of form on a few of these with his Optima Petamus having raced against, and beaten, a few of them.
Graham Lee takes the ride and we can all make of that what we will. He hasnt been successful for the trainer yet but that doesnt mean anything in this case.

    Have a good day all.

On the drift. Normally that would be a worrying sign but you never know with this jockey. Over four hours to the race so lets see what pans out.
I havent backed it, AW is not for me, but of course Mrs C is on it.

Sir Micky has entered Roxyfet at Sedgefield (of course) on Sunday but has switched him back over hurdles. It isnt a great race and, if turning out, would go there with an excellent chance. He races off 94 which currently will put him on 11-7 but that obviously depends on the current top rated horses staying in. Ii would imagine that Emma would ride and take a nice 7lb off.

In the Catterick 2.45 tomorrow, Martin Keighley's City Never Sleeps has a far better chance than most people would imagine. Powers have gone 14's which shouldnt last long.
    Reasons for selecting later.

Apologies lads if you didnt get it. Within 30 seconds putting it up they cut it to 11's. And of course Betfair Sportsbook followed suit within a minute. And the only other bookmakers who put their odds on Oddschecker, Hills and Bet365, were already up so thats that now.

City Never Sleeps started off his career running third in a bumper for Sam Curling before joining Keighley. He kept good company running behind the likes of Brahms De Clermont, the ill fated but talented Misterton and Pingshou. He couldnt make much impression against those but there was ability there. He was injured at Taunton in December 2016 and has had only three runs since then. He was off until March 2017 when he finished second at Towcester but was then off again, this time for 18 months, but did really well when finishing second at Southwell to Discay. But then he had another break, this time for 16 months and reappeared at Uttoxeter last month and finished sixth behind Main Fact. The form of that race needs close inspection because the winner went on to win the following week, the second horse, Out On The Tear, won at Doncaster just over a week later and the third horse, Bingo D'Olivate, won at Carlisle last week but was disqualified for losing his weightcloth. The trip that day would have been on the sharp side for him and this trip of 2m 3f on this ground will be ideal. He also has first time cheekpieces on and they might just do the trick. Its a positive sign that connections have persevered and i'm certain that they will get their reward soon.

I'm really looking forward to the last at Catterick tomorrow. Not because i fancy anything massively but because i am just wondering what excuse that Jonjo is going to give the stewards after the race. He has The Composuer in the race and this horse was tailed on its first three starts for him, all on soft or heavy ground and all at big prices. It was then well backed and scooted in at Huntingdon on its next run. Surprise, surprise. The excuse that Jonjo give after the race to the stewards was that it " benefitted from the step up in trip and appreciated the quicker ground".
But Catterick tomorrow is heavy so if it wins they should ask him why it suddenly likes the heavy ground and if it gets beat they should ask him why he ran it on that sort of ground.
Thats if the stewards are still sober come the last race.
You'd have to put a gun to my head to get me to back it at 4/5 and i'd much rather be on Too Many Chiefs or Eclair On Line each way. Both can be backed around 12/1.

Mrs Crossett was not a happy bunny. She said, in an angry tone, "If you tell me to back Graham Lee one more time................." and i just put my fingers in my ears and didnt hear the rest.

I've actually quite enjoyed doing these few AW races. If i hadnt have done three at Catterick this afternoon i would have liked to have done the 1m 5f handicap at Lingers. A nice low grade one. But i only spotted it last night and it was too late then.

I've done three for tomorrow. One at each of Market Rasen, Musselburgh and Wincanton. Nothing at the latter but a couple with chances at the other two.

I'd hate to think i'd backed that fav in the last, The Composeur, at 8/11 or 4/6 last night. There's some 7/4 around now. Its not the way to do things.
Plenty of money around for the two i mentioned last night when they were both 12's. One is now 4/1 and the other is 6's.

Thats fair enough but you know that all the ones i put up should be backed each way. I know very few people on here, if any, got the 14's last night but there was still plenty of 12's and 11's around. A big priced placed horse every day will keep you in Black Forest Gateaux and Guinness for as long as you like and occasionally these big priced ones go on and win.
