    Thats good to hear mate.

Unibet actually went 40's this morning but they are clueless and totally irrelevant.

I know i whinge a lot but its very advantageous that the "bookies " havent got a clue what prices to go. I was a bit embarrassed that i only went 14/1 about Booborowie in that race until i remembered that Bet365 went 9/2.

    It went off 50/1 !!!!!!!!!!

So far, so good. Only Wincanton abandoned up to now although the situation at each track that has passed their inspections will be monitored.

    Fingers crossed.

Best meeting of the day is Haydock and the Grand National trial at 3.15 will be a right old slog. There will be plenty of non runners at Ascot and i couldnt get excited about the meeting and i think thats partly down to the fact that i cant get excited about Cyrname. Never have done and never will.

Anybody fancy out in that Haydock race or any other race for that matter ? Stick your picks on here and i will have a look at them when i get back in.
I've got a date with a coffee or two and a bacon sarnie with a mate at 9.00

    Ciao.

Very much looking forward to the 150 at Ascot and in particular watching the run of Sam Brown. Entered for two races at the festival and will probably run in the RSA unless the ground turns out to be a bit firmer than the norm in which case he has a backup but I'm pretty sure it will run in the RSA. The 14/1 isn't going to last long if we get a good performance today but it looks a very competitive race.

The Grand National trial is the race of the day for me and i just hope the meeting is all done and dusted before the weather gets really bad.
I think Lord Du Mesnil's run will come to an end today, this mark of 147 might just be a step too far. And as much as i think that Elegant Escape is proper, tough staying chaser, i just have a feeling that he may find one or two too good for him. I wasnt fussed with Steely Addition at all but that was about it. I couldnt totally rule out any of the others. But Mrs Crossett needs her bets and she said i had to narrow it down to two so she could have a 2 x 2 with the following race. So one of them obviously has to be Vintage Clouds whose record round this track now stands at 1222F32131. And as i said before, the "F" was when he was in third place going ok behind Bristol De Mai.
Yala Enki has an obvious chance but the one i plumped for in the end was The Two Amigos. This one has been brought along steadily in his three starts this season and was an excellent fifth in the Welsh National last time out. What did catch my eye was his run in this race last year. I watched the race twice yesterday and i'm fairly certain that this race has been the plan. He was going well in second place starting out down the far side for the final time when he seemed to slip or slither after landing over the fence and came down. He hadnt touched a twig prior to that and it was a very unlucky ending. It was obviously too far out to be certain how things would have panned out but to my eyes he would have gone close. This trip and the conditions will suit him down to the ground and i think he will put in a big run.

    Fancies anyone ?????

Kilbricken Storm finishes in 3rd to qualify for the Pertemps at the Cheltenham festival, this morning I did my first bet for Cheltenham a NRNB e/w lucky15 with Kilbricken Storm(Pertemps), Glenloe(Kim Muir), Sporting John(Ballymore) and Clan Des Obeaux(Gold Cup)

Good luck mate, but to be honest, i just cant get into ante post betting these days. For me, it is dying a slow death and is nothing like what it was years ago. All this NRNB bollocks has spoilt it a lot and i reckon everyone would be far better off just waiting for the final decs to come in and taking it from there.
    Just my opinion though.

This weather is seriously pissing me off. I had a sneaking fancy for one at Market Rasen today and i think a few on here knew that i might go after Perfect Candidate at Exeter. But Dennis the menace took care of that and he's made a right old mess of tomorrows. The chases at Carlisle have already been abandoned and apparently they are going to split the remaining hurdle races up to make a six or seven race card.
I doubt there will be much there for me but i am eyeing up the class 6 12f handicap at Lingers tomorrow. Thats how bad things have got
Tuesday looks ok though so fingers crossed for Taunton and Musselburgh.

Great to see Traffic Fluide and Cyrname both get up and apparently none the worse for their falls. But the fact is that Cyrname was well beaten at the time and as i said yesterday morning, i just cant get excited about the horse. The handicapper has him down as the best horse in the country. That is his opinion to which of course he is quite entitled. I just happen to think that it is a load of bollocks ! Lets face it, ratings, handicap marks are just opinions and in my opinion he is a 168/170 horse. And he is definitely NOT a champion ! He needs things all his own way and the main point about that is that he needs to go right handed. He has never won going left handed. He just doesnt act that way. Fair enough he has only gone left handed three times but he has been well beaten each time and in all three he jumped right handed. He needs to do things on his own "patch". If Liverpool thrashed every team they played at Anfield 6-0 but couldnt win an away game, they wouldnt be classed as champions and wouldnt be champions.
Cyrname wouldnt have gone to Cheltenham and i doubt he will go to Aintree either. I actually hope he does go to one of them but after yesterday fall we may not see him again this season.
His handicap mark of 177 is nonsense as far as i am concerned and he got to that courtesy of two handicap wins which got him raised 26lb. Granted he won them both very easily but i do think it was a massive over reaction, something which seems to be happening more and more these days. I spend a lot of time each and every day going thru form and handicap marks and some of the penalties i see some horses get for basically winning a Mickey Mouse race beggar belief. There were about four or five that i can think of from last week alone. There was one today which i thought was very harsh. Miss Amelia at Market Rasen was due to run off a 10lb higher mark than its win at Bangor in December.. Fair enough it won by 17L but you cant give bigger and bigger penalties to horses who have won by bigger and bigger margins. You need to look at what they have beaten and then make the call and it definitely hasnt happened in this case. Nor in the other cases last week as well. Miss Amelia beat Grand Coureur on heavy going at Bangor and the second horse just cant act on it. He had been withdrawn from a race on heavy previously and by rights shouldnt have run that day. In third that day was Yourholidayisover who is a professional loser, fourth was Mistercobar who is 0/13 under rules. Fifth was Royal Act who only wins going right handed and is basically a Taunton specialist and in last place was Little Stevie who has been tailed on every occasion he has raced on heavy and who has always looked better going right handed and two of his three career wins have come going that way round.
In a nutshell, everything suited Miss Amelia and was totally against the others. But now she is lumbered with a 10lb hike in the weights which she will find hard to win off and which will take quite a while to drop to a level where she becomes competitive again.

That was a bit of a rant wasnt it ?!

The Racing Debate is on soon. I havent yet seen who is on but i hope its someone i can actually listen to. Its one of the few occasions in the week when the sound is on. I much prefer it when Tanya and Jim (Timeform) McGrath are on. At least there is plenty of knowledge and sense on show unlike when some of the gravy train muppets are on. And i do hope Chapman isnt on. He just spoils it.

I would have to agree with almost everything you say the bits I don't agree with are the bits I don't understand, you'd almost think that the handicapper is in league with the bookies hyping up a horse that isn't that good all the punters backing it and oh losing their hard earned

Yea antepost betting is dead and buried. It doesn't help when any horse that has won any type of race is shortened up for cheltenham eg lamarckise for mares hurdle. Now it might win at cheltenham but how it shortened up after its last run is baffling.

Obviously i only listen to him when he's on Racing Debate but he doesnt give the others a chance to put their views/points forward. Its all about him and his views and he seems to mock anyone who doesnt agree with his viewpoint.

    Just dont like him.

My only comment is that I was glad to hear that Cyrname got up and was OK. I feared the very worst when I watched that landing.

traffic fluide's fall was pilot error imo. Also cant understand why Cobden persisted with cyrname as it deffo looked like something was wrong.

I am definitely going soft in my old age. Thats what my missus has just told me. I've been looking forward to going to the Eider Chase at Newcastle next Saturday for a while now and i've scanned thru the entries a couple of times. Gordon Elliott, Noel Meade and Tony Martin have all got entries in it but i'm giving the meeting a miss. I havent got the time to go twice in three days so i've decided to go and see Roxyfet in his 100th race at Sedgefield on Thursday. It might have been the plan by Sir Micky to ready it for the occasion. As i said a couple of days ago, on a going day he wins it. But he will have to run better than last time.
If he is pulled out then Newcastle is back on again. I'll know on Wednesday morning.
