It has been a couple of weeks since I last posted on the forum but I think I have a good horse to return to the blog with. The flat season may be coming to an end but Dundalk host an eight-race card and in the 2yo fillies maiden (typically the type of race I tend to stay away from) I fancy the mount of Gary Carroll who rides for Joseph Murphy. The horse in question is Sister Slew who ran a good race first time out at Galway over 7f on soft ground to finish 4th behind some useful sorts who have run good races at Group 1 and 2 level. The 3rd that day Big Break (went off favourite) from the D K Weld stable has won a maiden since and is entered in a Group 3 at the Curragh this Sunday.

Sister Slew faces some tough opposition again today with some nicely bred newcomers and unexposed promising 2yos. As I have mentioned, typically I would stay away from a race of this nature but I had heard good vibes about this horse before she ran on debut 58 days ago and with a forecast price of 16/1 she certainly seems worthy of carrying my money. Her half-sister Capeslew landed a 1m maiden here last year at odds of 50/1 before being sold to America so presumably Joseph feels she will handle the track well enough to do herself justice just like she did. There is not much more to go on but regardless of how she does today I think she will be a horse to keep in your horse tracker.
